Sailing Classes
Going “green” is the latest buzzword and one way to do it is by learning the ancient and pollution-free activity of sailing. And, of course, the Waikiki Yacht Club, with its individual and group sailing classes, is the perfect place to learn.
The club’s basic sailing program is a 12-hour course, consisting of four three-hour lessons on the water off Waikiki, Diamond Head, and Hawaii Kai, aboard club-owned 420s and an Ericson 22 sloop. Topics covered in these classes include: seamanship, terminology, knot-tying, rules of the road, navigation, and boat maintenance.
WYC membership is not required to enroll in these classes and the instruction fee for groups of up to four students starts at $25 an hour. Individual instruction fees start at $35 an hour.
More information, registration forms, and updates on current special offers are available from WYC Sailing Coach Guy Fleming at the WYC business office by calling 808-955-4405.
